As a New Era Dawn, Women Shall Forever Gleam

Changed Legacy

    WOMEN. It is only one word with five letters but experienced worst in the society. Centuries time ago, women plays a different role in the society. When we say women, they should stay at home; they should be dominated by men. But as years passed by, our society improved. The questions is, does the status of women also followed in improvement?

    Looking back, women before was prohibited in learning. Given as example ifs Leona Florentino of Vigan City. She did not have the chance to study in proper school. She did learn the things that needed to be known and learned at home. Amidst of that, she became a greatest poetess. Her works have gone international. With this experience of her, women was empowered.

    As the barriers of culture was little by little got destroyed, the ability they have being a women, not JUST a women in different aspects continued to shine like a twinkling star. Women were able to develop the secret skills and abilities that they have. In moving forward, women may have met strong waves that comes along their way to meet the goal as being included in society, those will never be a hindrance. Women is a WOMEN. Who is important. Not only on their own but as well as in the whole universe. 

     As a student, I, as well, want to share how I empower myself, and my co-women. In this National Women's Month, I joined an essay contest, expressing a thought about the theme, "Empowering Women Through Education: Breaking Barriers and Building Success". I honestly did not prepare for it as it was sudden. Nevertheless, I was able to express a lot during that contested activity as I am very motivated to stand for myself as a women, and to stand with my co-women. Amidst the shadows of doubt and intricacies of my mind, I was also able to use my passion and expertise in writing for conveying something especially this Women's Month that made my heart jump in happiness. 

    Additionally, I do not only speak about women's empowerment this National Women's Month. Truthfully, I speak silently. As a human, who's gender is female, it is rare for us to join in the organization, Boys Scout of the Philippines. But I actually did. Me, serving BSP for almost 2 years, I do not only intend to gain an experience, to go out of my comfort zone, to acquire knowledge. Digging deeper, me joining serve as a stand in empowering women, that women can also do what men can do. With that, I want to take this chance to give my sincere gratitude to Ilocos Sur National High School mainly its BSP coordinators, for allowing women to join in the said organization. Little did they know, permitting women to join in the BSP Organization means a lot, especially in acknowledging equality. 

    As equality triumphantly reigned, may this promote peacefulness to everybody. Women deserves a big bow, for proving to everyone that women are strong and can stand on their own. Gender only serves as a category. It will never serve as a thick wall that was hard to be destroyed. As they said, the only permanent is change. And with that, this new changed legacy will definitely lead to success.
